Out of Hand
20th Anniversary Group Exhibition
Presented by Stitching & Beyond Tasmania
Venue: Long Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre
Location: Hobart, Tasmania
Dates: 26 September – 6 October 2025
Celebrating two decades of Stitching & Beyond Tasmania, Out of Hand brought together an inspiring collection of contemporary fibre, textile and paper-based artworks created by members from across the state. The anniversary exhibition showcased the breadth of contemporary textile practice, from fine art and sculptural works to wearable and functional pieces, while celebrating the creativity and community that have shaped the organisation over the past twenty years.
I was delighted to exhibit three embroidered artworks that continue my ongoing exploration of ecology and the intricate relationships found within the more-than-human world. Although working in thread rather than clay, these works reflect many of the same ideas that continue to inform my contemporary ceramic practice—close observation, slow making, and an enduring fascination with fungi, lichens, mosses and the quiet complexity of natural systems.
