Hello, I’m Christie, a Sculpture and Ceramic Artist. I live and work by the bush and the sea in Binalong Bay on Larapuna/the Bay of Fires, Lutruwita/Tasmania.

Alongside my sculptural ceramic arts practice, I am a Creative Coach and Mentor to those seeking to develop their own creative practice, ceramics skills and experience the joy of slow clay through creative mindfulness.

At Christie Lange Ceramics we offer VIP Clay & Wine Experiences, Private Group Bookings, Clay & Me – Creative Mindfulness workshops, 1:1 Art Therapy, NDIS Art Therapy, Employment & Capacity building for NDIS, 1:1 Creative Coaching, Term-by-term Ceramics Studio Classes and Beginner’s Pottery Wheel classes.

Taking inspiration from nature and the world around me, my artwork explores ideas of cohabitation, ecology, adaptation, restoration and renewal. If you’re anything like me, you’re longing for the restoration of the natural environment and look for hope everywhere you can! Through my artwork I hope to nurture the innate appreciation we humans have for nature; so that we can see nature anew. Our planets ecosystems are fascinating; delicate and resilient. I am endlessly enthralled by the intricacies of the lives organisms live, achieving balance and vitality.

When you zoom in for a close look at my artwork, you might see reflections from the realms of fungi, animals and plants, all mixed together to create hybrid forms, something new! In my imagination, these small hybrid organisms eat manufactured materials and therefore are helping us to clean up the humanized landscape and bring restoration.

I have recently become a member of Art Trails Tasmania and you can find out more about my arts practice here.

Parallel to making and selling porcelain sculptures, I assist people looking to explore their creativity as a personal Creative Coach. Seeing others light up as they make something that they’re proud of is super exciting for them and me! With twenty years working with people of all ages and specifically ten years experience in the Disability and Aged Care sector, I am in the unique position to offer Creative Coaching to those on the NDIS looking to explore their creativity in a variety of mediums and socialise whilst making art in a relaxed setting.

More broadly, I have collaborated with a Chef to host Gourmet Clay Pop-ups in Tassie’s Northeast; and in response to enquiries can provide private group bookings. Locally, I offer a kiln firing service for potters and hobbyists.

In my time off, I love swimming at the beach or in the Lagoon, cooking, having friends and family around for a feast, growing herbs and veggies, listening to music, G & T’s, and hanging out with Harley, my absolute Dude of a cat!

Christie xx
