Bio

Christie Lange is a Tasmanian ceramic and mixed-media artist based in Binalong Bay on Larapuna / the Bay of Fires. Her practice explores restoration and renewal through sustained observation of terrestrial ecosystems, with particular attention to lichens, mosses, fungi, gastropods and soil communities. Marine environments extend this inquiry across Tasmania’s shorelines. Working primarily in porcelain and stoneware, she hand-builds hybrid sculptural forms that reflect adaptation, interdependence and regenerative cycles. Lange holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (First Class Honours) from the University of Tasmania and has been recognised as a finalist in the Women’s Art Prize Tasmania and the Bay of Fires Art Prize.
