Luxury Coral Sculpture Experience

A$545.00

Immerse yourself in the extraordinary forms of coral and create your own ceramic sculpture across two carefully guided studio sessions. This premium small-group experience combines sculpture, surface development, glazing, and a gourmet grazing luncheon, offering participants the opportunity to create a substantial finished artwork while developing advanced hand-building skills.

Session One: Monday 4 January 2027
Time: 11:00am – 5:00pm

Session Two: Monday 25 January 2027
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Workshop Description

Coral reefs are among the most diverse and intricate ecosystems on Earth. Their branching forms, rhythmic structures, and remarkable capacity for growth provide the inspiration for this immersive two-part ceramic sculpture experience.

Designed for those wanting to move beyond introductory pottery workshops, this premium small-group experience invites participants to slow down, observe, and create a substantial coral-inspired sculpture through a process of making, refinement, and surface development.

Guided by ceramic artist Christie Lange, participants will learn how to construct sculptural ceramic forms, develop structural integrity, create intricate surface textures, and explore the visual language of coral through clay.

Session One focuses on building and developing the sculpture. Participants will learn construction techniques, surface development methods, and approaches to creating depth, movement, and complexity within their forms. Throughout the day, Christie will provide individual guidance while participants work at their own pace within a relaxed and supportive studio environment.

Following drying and bisque firing, participants will return for Session Two, where they will explore underglaze and glazing techniques designed to enhance texture, depth, and visual complexity. This final stage transforms the sculpture and prepares it for its final firing.

Beyond the finished artwork, participants will gain a deeper understanding of ceramic sculpture, surface decoration, and glazing while spending time immersed in creative practice, conversation, and connection.

Limited places ensure personalised tuition and a highly supportive learning environment.

If the second session is missed, sculptures will be completed in a white gloss glaze on the participant's behalf.
