Coral Sculpture Exploration Workshop
📅 Monday 4 January 2027 @ 11am – 5pm
& Monday 25 January 2027 @ 10am – 12pm
🕰 Duration: Total 8 hours
Session 1: 6 Hours
Session 2: 2 hours
💲 Investment:
Luxury Coral Sculpture Experience: $540 per person
(includes 2 workshop sessions, a grazing platter luncheon + BYO bubbles)
Dive into the intricate, otherworldly beauty of coral as you sculpt your own reef-inspired ceramic artwork.
This immersive two-part experience invites you to slow down and work with your hands—shaping, refining, and finishing a sculptural piece that echoes the quiet complexity of life beneath the sea. Guided step-by-step, you’ll move from raw clay to a fully realised, glazed artwork that captures both form and feeling.
Workshop Flow
Session 1: Sculpting & Form Development (6 hours)
We begin by grounding ourselves in the visual language of coral—its branching forms, delicate textures, and rhythmic growth patterns. Through demonstration and guided making, you’ll build your sculpture from the ground up, learning how to shape, structure, and refine your piece with intention.
As the day unfolds, you’ll move into detailed surface work—carving, imprinting, and layering texture to bring depth and character to your form. This is a slow, immersive process, with space to explore, experiment, and be supported one-on-one.
We close the session with a relaxed sharing moment—time to reflect, photograph your work, and understand the next stages as your piece dries, is fired, and prepared for glazing.
Session 2: Underglaze & Glazing (2 hours)
Return to the studio to complete your sculpture—this is where your piece truly comes to life.
In this guided glazing session, you’ll apply underglaze and glaze to enhance the intricate textures you’ve created. You’ll learn how to layer colour, highlight surface detail, and choose finishes that respond to your form—whether soft, luminous washes or richer ocean-inspired tones.
This final stage transforms your work, adding depth, contrast, and a sense of completion before its last firing.
🎨 Materials & Inclusions:
Sculptural clay
Professional ceramic tools
Coral reference imagery
All firing and glazing
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, chai & sparkling water
Lunch for Session 1 is a Gourmet grazing platter + glassware (BYO bubbles welcome)
👩🎨 Your Outcome:
Across the two sessions, you’ll create and finish a detailed coral-inspired ceramic sculpture—entirely your own.
Your piece will be professionally fired and ready for collection within 6–8 weeks (approx. 15.03.27). We’ll keep you updated with collection dates.
Please note: due to the delicate nature of these works, collection from the studio is required. By booking, you’re reserving your place across both sessions (Monday 4 January 2027 and Monday 25 January 2027); as each stage is essential to the process, we’re unable to offer make-up sessions, so missed sessions are respectfully forfeited. If the second session is missed, your sculpture will be glazed in a white gloss finish on your behalf and can be collected once notified.
Beyond the finished piece, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of hand-building, surface decoration, and glazing—alongside a renewed sense of connection to your creativity and the natural world.
