The 100 Mug Challenge was a creative journey to craft 100 unique mugs from just 500g of the same stoneware clay, each wheel-thrown and hand-shaped with its own character. Every mug features a handle and is finished in the same creamy gloss glaze inspired by Tasmania’s Binalong Bay. This challenge celebrates the beauty of handmade imperfection and the endless possibilities within simple materials.

The Stats: 56 kgs white raku clay, 107 x 500g weighed balls of clay, 107 x ram roll wedged balls of clay, 107 x vessels thrown on the pottery wheel, 5 x vessels thrown into the recycle bucket, 102 x handles made and attached, 10 liters of our handmade white gloss glaze, 2 x competed mugs rejected, 65+ hours of work,

Each mug was wire-cut, weighed, wedged, hand-thrown, dried to leather-hard, bottoms sponged, stamped, slab made handle attached, sponged, dried and turned over 3 times, packed into the kiln, bisque fired to 1000c, unpacked from the kiln, sanded and washed, waxed, glazed, sponged, glaze marks rubbed down, packed into the kiln, glaze fired to 1228c, unpacked from the kiln, bottoms sanded, labelled, priced and displayed.

Each mug in the 100 Mugs Collection is handcrafted from 500g of high-quality stoneware clay, wheel-thrown to create a unique form. Finished with a creamy gloss glaze inspired by the soft white sands of Binalong Bay, Tasmania, every piece carries the natural beauty and tactile warmth of the handmade.

Each mug is handwrapped with care to ensure it arrives safely and beautifully to your door. We use protective, eco-friendly materials to cradle your mug for the journey. All orders are shipped securely through Australia Post, with tracking provided for peace of mind.
